They said dash camera footage confirmed the 18-wheeler driver ran a red light before the crash.
“According to the driver of the commercial motor vehicle, he stated that he had the yellow light. Further investigation once we reviewed the dash camera of the commercial motor vehicle, we later found that he had the red light the whole time. He never had the yellow light,” said Deputy Investigator Chacon.
Chacon said the 18-wheeler driver may have been blinded by another set of nearby traffic lights, and he didn’t show signs of intoxication
It was unknown what charges the driver would face.
“Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and loved ones of all those involved in this tragedy. We’ll cooperate with law enforcement as they investigate further,” said Amazon spokesperson Steve Kelly.
According to information provided by Amazon, the driver of the line-haul truck involved is employed by an independent third-party contractor.
