Woman critically injured after crashing into Harris County deputy’s vehicle on SH-249

HOUSTON – A Harris County deputy was involved in a major two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon on Highway 249 at Jones Road, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash was reported in the 22300 block of Highway 249. Northbound lanes were expected to be closed for over an hour but reopened at 5:25 p.m.

What happened

HCSO said a deputy was out of his patrol vehicle tending to a disabled vehicle, when he spotted a vehicle rapidly approaching.

The driver reportedly struck the rear of the patrol car.

The older adult female driver of the striking vehicle has been transported to a hospital in critical condition.

The deputy was uninjured.
