HOUSTON – An electrical fire originally contained to one unit at a southwest Houston apartment complex spread to 16 units after a bad pump in a firetruck complicated the response.
Officials say the fire happened at the Ashford Casa Serena Apartments on Dumfries Drive.
Firefighters from the Houston Fire Department responded to the scene and found one unit on fire. As they worked to start putting out the flames, they realized they had a bad pump unit in the firetruck, forcing them to back off and wait for another truck to arrive.
In about 10 minutes, the fire had spread to 16 units.
No injuries were reported.
