Man found shot to death near bus stop in Independence Heights

An investigation is underway after Houston police said a man was found shot to death at a bus stop in Independence Heights Saturday night.

Officers with the Houston Police Department responded to reports of a shooting on North Main at Link Road around 9 p.m.

Officers said the man who was killed was reportedly on the phone with his girlfriend while waiting for a bus when an unknown man approached him and started talking.

Officers said at some point, the man who was on FaceTime started running, and then the girlfriend said the phone went quiet.

The girlfriend then called the police, and they were able to track the man’s phone, finding him dead in a grassy area near the bus stop.

Police do not have a suspect as of this writing.
