Sea turtle rescue in Texas City (Texas City Fire Department)
TEXAS CITY, Texas – Texas City firefighters lent a helping hand to a sea turtle who was injured and struggling to swim near the Texas City Dike earlier this week.
Visitors on the dike noticed the turtle in the water, but couldn’t reach it, So, they reached out to firefighters to see if they could help.

Firefighters from the Texas City Fire Department responded and sprang into action, scaling over the large rocks on the dike and wading out to the creature.
The turtle was tangled in fishing line and had a hook stuck under one of its flippers. Firefighters were able to free the turtle from the fishing line and carried it to shore.
Firefighters say the turtle is now at a turtle recovery center in Galveston receiving care from wildlife experts. It is expected to make a full recovery.
