Man killed in crash after fleeing home where stepfather found stabbed to death in Montgomery County

Investigators are saying this is a possible murder-suicide between family

Authorities are investigating after two men died in a possible murder-suicide in Montgomery County incidents.

According to deputies, 77-year-old Jeffery Love was found dead by his wife around 8:52 a.m. inside their home, located in the 37400 block of FM 149.

The wife told investigators she heard noises and checked on her husband and discovered the gruesome scene.

Love suffered from multiple sharp force trauma to his head and a machete was found near his body.

Two minutes later, approximately 100 yards from the resident on FM 149, deputies received another call about a head-on collision involving a loaded dumpster truck and a Toyota Grand Highlander, driven by 35-year-old Nicolas Petropolis, who is the stepson of Love.

Petropolis was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the dumpster truck was taken to a hospital with injuries.

Investigators were told by witnesses that Petropolis was seen accelerating and driving into traffic. Witnesses also provided a dashcam that captured the entire incident.

Investigators are calling this case a murder-suicide between family members. It was confirmed that Petropolis also lived inside the home.
