Man crashes stolen vehicle, gets trapped inside after chase with Houston police

HOUSTON – A man accused of stealing a car is recovering in the hospital Wednesday after investigators said he crashed while trying to flee from the cops.

It happened around midnight when Houston police said they found a car reported stolen and tried to pull the driver over, but refused to stop. Instead, investigators said the driver fled westbound on Cavalcade in the Heights for about three or four blocks until the car went airborne, flipped, and crashed, trapping the driver inside.

Houston firefighters were able to extricate the man from the vehicle and took him to a trauma center, where he is expected to be OK.

No additional information was shared, so it’s unclear what charges the man is facing, as of this writing, but an investigation remains underway.
