A motorcyclist was killed after being thrown from the North Freeway to 59 South interchange ramp in a crash that happened just before 2 a.m., Houston police said.
It happened around 1:50 a.m. on the interchange from the North Freeway to the South 59 Freeway. Investigators said a motorcyclist was traveling north on the overpass ramp when, for unknown reasons, they lost control and were thrown off the overpass.
The rider fell onto the area near Pierce Street below and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said the victim appears to be in their 20s.
The motorcycle continued along the overpass before coming to a stop.
As of early Thursday morning, the interchange remained shut down as HPD’s crash team conducted its investigation. The cause of the crash is still under review.
