SPRING, Texas – A man is behind bars after authorities said he rammed his car into another vehicle after that driver threw a burrito at him in a north Harris County parking lot.
BY THE NUMBERS: Houston drivers on high alert as road rage shootings surge
Precinct 4 constable deputies said they were called to a road rage incident at the Dollar Tree on East Louetta near Old Louetta Road in Spring.
Responding investigators there, said Arturo Villareal, 56, was in his vehicle with his two granddaughters when he and another driver, identified only as “the complainant,” exchanged words and followed Villareal around the parking lot. Further investigation also revealed that the complainant threw a burrito at Villareal’s car.
That’s when officers said Villareal “turned his vehicle around and intentionally rammed his vehicle into the complainant’s vehicle, causing major damages.”
The 56-year-old was then arrested by constable deputies and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and held on a $7,500 bond.
EXPLAINER: What you should and should NOT do to avoid becoming a victim of road rage
You might be wondering about what happened to the driver who threw the burrito in the first place. Precinct 4 confirmed with KPRC 2 that while the other driver did essentially start the incident by throwing a burrito at Villareal’s car, because it did not cause damage, that driver was not taken into custody.
