Accused kidnapper forced man at gunpoint to wire money at Houston area Walmarts

A Houston man is facing a kidnapping charge after prosecutors say he abducted a stranger at gunpoint in a parking lot and forced him to send money at two different Walmart locations.

According to court documents, Deangelo Monrta Patrick is accused of kidnapping the victim on April 19. Prosecutors say Patrick forced the man into his vehicle at gunpoint and drove him to a Walmart store, demanding that he wire money through Western Union.

The complaint states that Patrick exhibited a firearm during the abduction and continued to use it as he drove the victim to two separate Walmart locations, attempting to compel him to send money. Authorities say the man was targeted randomly.

Patrick is already out on bail for a separate case involving interference with an emergency request for assistance.

Prosecutors are seeking to revoke his bail though, citing the use of a deadly weapon and the violent nature of the new allegations.
