Galveston County health district employee accused of stealing thousands

A Galveston County Health District employee has been arrested after investigators said she stole thousands of dollars from the district.

The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Division launched an investigation at the request of the health district, uncovering that 34-year-old Brittani Nikole Martinez of Texas City had misappropriated funds.

Prosecutors have charged Martinez with Theft of Property valued at $2,500 to $30,000, a third-degree felony.

She was arrested and is now in the Galveston County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

Martinez attorney, David Maly, released the following statement:

“My client denies these false accusations and plans to fight to prove her innocence.”
