HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A SWAT team and Harris County sheriff’s deputies responded to a home in southwest Harris County after a man said to be involved in a family disturbance barricaded himself inside a home
The sheriff’s office said it happened in the 13700 block of Sunmount Pines Drive, near Eldridge Parkway and Beechnut Street. It started just after 10 a.m.
According to Maj. Earl Dean with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the 33-year-old man had assaulted his father during some type of argument. The man’s father received some injuries to his nose but is said to be ok.

Arriving units attempted to talk to the son, but he barricaded himself inside the home.
A Crises Negotiation Team attempted to talk the man into coming out of the home for several hours. After unsuccessful attempts, a SWAT team was called out.
Negotiations continued for several hours with family members arriving and also attempting to talk the man into coming out of the house.
After several more hours of unsuccessful negotiations, deputies utilized tear gas which ultimately led to the man coming out of the home and surrendering. Dean says the man was not hurt.
Dean says the man will be charged with injury to the elderly as well as retaliation for continued threats to harm his father.
