Houston Police captain arrested by League City Police, charged with possession of child pornography

LEAGUE CITY, Texas – A captain with the Houston Police Department has been arrested and charged with possession of child pornography.

Daryn Edwards, 59, is in the League City Jail with a $250,000 bond for the charge, according to jail records.

Edwards is the captain of HPD’s Auto Theft Division.

The Houston Police Department confirmed Edwards’ arrest on X. The department says Edwards has been relieved of duty pending the outcome of an Internal Affairs Division investigation.

League City police say someone came in Tuesday night after 10 p.m. to make a report about Edwards. This information prompted the League City Police Department to obtain a search warrant on Wednesday for Edwards' home. Following the search, authorities were able to make an arrest related to charges of possessing child pornography.
