The accident was reported at around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday on US 59 Northbound and FM 762. All northbound lanes were closed beginning at the ramp at FM 2218 and Reading Road Northbound as authorities worked to clear the scene.
One of the trucks was carrying jalapeño peppers that poured out across the road, which authorities are working to clean up. Another truck reportedly flipped and another had its trailer swing into a “jackknife” position. The third truck was reportedly “just involved.”
Two people involved in the accident were taken to the Memorial Herman Hospital in Sugar Land, and another suffered minor injuries that didn’t require a hospital visit.
At last check, officials have finally been able to turn over the truck that flipped.
Richmond Police Department reported the situation and advised drivers to stay off the roads unless it is absolutely necessary, as black ice continues to be an issue on Houston highways.
