Mother of infant found dead inside SW Houston gas station sentenced to prison

HOUSTON, Texas – The woman who left her dead infant daughter inside of a gas station restroom shortly after giving birth has been sentenced to prison.
Diana Guadalupe Zavala Lopez was found guilty of tampering/fabricating physical evidence charges and was sentenced to four years on Monday.

On April 2, 2023, Zavala is accused of entering a gas station located at 13114 Post Oak Road and going inside the restroom for about 15 minutes before leaving.
Hours later, a customer went inside the restroom, found the infant dead, and called the police. Investigators said the infant had been dead hours before being found.

Investigators believe Lopez gave birth to the baby inside the restroom and left. She was arrested months later on August 1, 2023.
