Houston ISD increasing security after reports of threats targeting Texas schools

HOUSTON – The Houston Independent School Distric t is taking a statewide threat against several Texas public schools seriously by increasing its security.
HISD stated that it is aware of the online and social media posts suggesting Texas schools are targets of violence.

Although the district said there have been no confirmed direct threats to its campuses, it will be working closely with state law enforcement agencies to investigate these claimed.
“HISD takes every threat, real or hoax, very seriously. All threats are assigned to a criminal investigator to determine the appropriate response.”

Out of an abundance of caution, HISD said it has increased on-campus patrols across the district for safeguard.
