High-intensity rainfall causes wastewater overflow in Baytown

Drinking water not affected

BAYTOWN, Texas – The City of Baytown said this past weekend’s high-intensity rainfall caused an overflow of wastewater.

The overflow happened on Feb. 3 and was estimated to have been greater than 100,000 gallons.

The city said the Goose Creek receiving stream is the only area potentially affected by the sanitary sewer overflow.

“Resident drinking water from the City is safe to drink and use,” said City Manager Jason Reynolds. “We are required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to send notices regarding the overflow.”

Baytown Public Works is closely monitoring the situation.
