HOUSTON – A Katy man is the latest to reach out to 2 Helps You over StubHub canceling his World Cup experience in Houston after investing thousands in the experience of a lifetime. Dennis Hetu and his family were not only excited to see a World Cup match in his hometown, but also to take in the play of Portugal’s legendary striker, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Hetu says he purchased the tickets through StubHub in early December 2025 for a June 23rd match in Houston.

After learning two days after his purchase that Portugal would be one of the teams playing in that match, he invited family from North Carolina and Colombia.
According to Hetu, he began contacting StubHub in January regarding the confirmation status of the tickets he purchased. Hetu says the ticket platform repeatedly assured him the tickets would be delivered closer to match day, telling him on June 15, “All was good to go.” Then, on June 16, a week before the game, Hetu received an email from StubHub saying the seller had failed to provide the tickets.

As we have reported throughout our series of investigative reports — now the focus of an investigation by the Attorney General for the State of Texas — StubHub claims a 100% Fan Guarantee when tickets have been purchased on their site.

Hetu tells 2 Helps You that he spent several hours communicating with StubHub through digital communication and over the phone. In one call on June 17, Hetu says he made it clear that he wanted everything from StubHub documented and preserved. “I get a call from StubHub manager. He stated the line was being recorded. I stated, GREAT, and I want it saved for future use.”
Hetu has become the latest Texan to file a complaint with the Attorney General’s Consumer Complaint Hotline. He also tells 2 Helps You his documentation and his call with StubHub, recorded by the company on June 17, will be pivotal when he speaks with investigators from the Attorney General’s Office.

Hetu also has plans to go beyond the AG’s office and file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, as he wants federal officials to be aware of StubHub’s business practices during events like the World Cup.
Separate from this, Hetu shared that he is examining litigation because of the “$15K and $20K” spent on the experience — including having to spend an additional $4,575.85 for two tickets purchased through FIFA’s website so at least two members of his family could go to the Portugal match.
StubHub tells 2 Helps You in a statement, “Hi Mario, thank you for your email. Because this is now a legal matter, we aren’t able to comment.”
In response to their statement, 2 Helps You did email the following questions to StubHub, in hopes their legal team or government affairs team could respond:
- How many lawsuits have been filed against StubHub during the 2026 World Cup because of tickets purchased by customers on your platform being canceled?
- Approximately how many tickets did StubHub cancel during the 2026 World Cup for its customers? (I’m not looking for an exact number here, simply a percentage — even a ballpark range if your team can provide one.)
- At last count, I have investigations into StubHub by the Attorney General’s Office in British Columbia, Canada, and the Attorney General’s Office in the State of Texas. Are there others?
- While you indicated you will not comment on Mr. Hetu’s case, please tell us what a client like Dennis should do in this situation?
We have yet to hear back from StubHub by the deadline for this report.
