Parking at NRG for the CFP National Championship? Here’s what you need to know

Navigating parking for the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship at NRG Stadium

Excitement is building as the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship approaches, with thousands of fans gearing up to witness the clash between No. 1 seed Michigan and No. 2 seed Washington at Houston’s NRG Stadium on Monday. As attendees plan their game day experience, one crucial aspect to consider is parking.

Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you navigate the parking situation for this highly anticipated event.

On-site parking:

NRG Stadium offers on-site parking for attendees, a convenient option for those who prefer to park close to the action. Parking permits are available for purchase at $50 plus fees for automobiles and $200 plus fees for oversized vehicles. It is advisable to secure your parking space in advance through the official website (https://am.ticketmaster.com/cfbplayoff/2024parking) or on game day, subject to availability.

The on-site parking lots will open at 11 a.m. on game day and close two hours after the conclusion of the championship game.

RVs/recreational vehicles will be allowed to park at NRG Stadium in Yellow Lot 36. No overnight RV parking will be allowed at NRG Stadium for the 2024 national championship game.

Accessible parking:

For guests with accessibility needs, on-site accessible parking is available for purchase on game day. Priced at $50 plus fees per vehicle, accessible parking spaces are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Those with a valid accessible license plate or hangtag, combined with a purchased parking permit, will be directed to the nearest accessible parking space. Accessible drop-off and pick-up points are available in Blue Lot 19.

Overnight RV parking:

While overnight RV parking is not permitted at NRG Stadium, nearby RV parks like South Main RV Park and Lakeview RV Resort offer accommodations. Make reservations directly with the respective RV parks, as these lots are not controlled by the CFP or NRG Park.

Public transportation:

To alleviate traffic congestion, consider using the Houston Metro and its METRORail services. All trains are accessible, and a dedicated shuttle will operate from the Stadium Park/Astrodome Station to a drop-off point near NRG Stadium entries. Rideshare:

For those opting for rideshare services, enter Yellow Lots 35 and 38 through Gate 16B from Main Street as the designated NRG Stadium pick-up/drop-off location.

Tailgating Guidelines:

Tailgating is allowed in all NRG Park parking lots for the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship. The following rules must be followed to tailgate in these lots.

  • Parking is on a first-come, first-served basis, and saving spots is not permitted.
  • Tailgating is limited to the parking spot and space directly behind or in front of each vehicle.
  • Barbecue grills in tow require an additional space, and receipts may be requested.
  • Open flames are allowed but must be extinguished before entering the stadium.
  • Tents, chairs, and other items must be stored before kickoff for safety reasons.
  • Follow the instructions of parking attendants and law enforcement.
  • Fire safety measures, including the use of fire extinguishers, are mandatory.
  • The use of golf carts, bikes and scooters is strictly prohibited.
  • Large balloons are not permitted as decoration.
  • Music should be kept to a minimum.
  • Blocking or saving parking spaces is prohibited. Fans who wish to tailgate together must arrive together.
