HPD sergeant arrested by department for solicitation of prostitution

HOUSTON – A sergeant with the Houston Police Department was arrested for solicitation of prostitution Wednesday, authorities said.

Sergeant Cesar Antonio Beltran, who was assigned to the Midwest Patrol Division, was arrested by HPD and booked into the Harris County Jail. His bond, which was made, was set at $10,000.

Court documents said on Dec. 18, Beltran offered and agreed to pay a fee for “the purpose of engaging in sexual conduct.”

As a standard protocol, the department said Beltran has been relieved of duty pending an investigation by the Internal Affairs Division.

“HPD holds its officers to the highest standards and will take appropriate action up to, and including, termination,” the department said in a statement.

Beltran was sworn in as an officer in June 1998.

Beltran was previously charged with DWI in Novermber 2020, the misdemeanor criminal charge was later dismissed.
