‘It’s a senseless act’ 17-year-old driver killed in possible road rage shooting was headed to Galveston to visit friends

Houston police are searching for the suspect who shot and killed a 17-year-old and injured another person in a possible road rage shooting in downtown Houston.

Louise Wilson, 17, was driving on her way to visit friends in Galveston when someone opened fire—shooting and killing her. Her family is praying for justice.

Her uncle, Leo Amoling, has known her niece since birth. He describes Wilson as someone who loved animals and had thoughts about working in law enforcement.

“She was a gentle soul. She was a great woman, kindhearted. She loved animals and horses. She loved her cats. She was well known in the Whitney area,” Amoling said.

Louise lived in Whitney, Texas. The small town is north of Waco. Louise was homeschooled and graduated from high school in May.

“She was born in Germany when her parents lived abroad with the military. She’s lived all over the country. She was homeschooled. She graduated early. She was taking college courses and getting ready to get her Associate degree. She had a bright future ahead of her and she didn’t deserve this at all,” Amoling said.

“(Monday) was the hardest day, but (the family) are coping,” Amoling told KPRC 2′s Re’Chelle Turner. “It’s going to be rough in the week ahead, especially when we have to bury her.”

Houston Police say Louise unintentionally swerved in front of the gunman’s car to avoid another car that was braking. The suspect drove off.

“Whoever the coward was justice will be served one way or the other whether it’s here on this earth or the next life,” Amoling said.

One of Wilson’s passengers was shot in the, according to police. That person was transported to an area hospital in stable condition. A third person was not hurt.

Officers are looking for a black four-door sedan.

“It was a senseless act, but if someone was able to pull this off in a moving vehicle and to shoot into another moving vehicle, they knew what they were doing so my question is why and what’s going on in Houston,” Amoling said.

The Wilson family is devastated and hopes someone will come forward with information.

“The crime issues and what’s going on in Houston, Dallas, Austin and now that it’s hit my own family and a girl who’s not even from the area. She was trying to have a quick vacation in Galveston, I don’t know what else to say,” Amoling said.

Louise will be laid to rest next Tuesday in Whitney, Texas.

Crime Stoppers announced a $5,000 reward for any tips leading to the suspect’s arrest. You can call 713-222-TIPS.
