Man killed in fiery crash after speeding, running red light in NW Houston: Police

HOUSTON – A driver is dead after speeding and then running a red light in northwest Houston Tuesday, officers with the Houston Police Department said.

HPD units responded to a two-vehicle crash in the 4300 block of Antoine Drive around 9:37 a.m.

Police said when they arrived at the scene, they found a vehicle that was on fire. Officers were able to pull the driver out of the burning vehicle but he was pronounced dead at the scene, HPD said.

According to investigators, it was reported that a Jeep was trying to make a turn from eastbound to northbound Antoine. That Jeep collided with a sedan in the intersection that ran the red light while traveling southbound at a high rate of speed, police said. Officers said the sedan left the roadway and crashed into a tree.

The driver of the Jeep remained at the scene and did not sustain any injuries.

Investigators said they believe the driver that died caused the crash.
