Woman charged in shootings of 2 sisters at SE Houston apartment complex in July, HPD says

HOUSTON – Officers with the Houston Police Department are still searching for a woman they said shot two sisters during an argument at an apartment complex in southeast Houston in July.

The suspect, Melanie Bazan, 20, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 339th State District Court.

Officials with HPD and the Houston Fire Department responded to reports of a shooting at 7011 Village Way on July 17 around 10:30 p.m. When they arrived at the scene, they reportedly discovered two women ages 21 and 28 had been shot. The women, who police said are sisters, were transported to area hospitals in stable condition.

According to investigators, Bazan was inside a vehicle and got into an argument with the sisters. The suspect then shot at the women and fled the scene, HPD said.

Bazan was previously charged for terroristic threat but her case was dismissed after no probable cause was found, according to court documents.
