‘Life is precious & unpredictable’: Local law enforcement agencies, officials offer condolences for deputy killed in crash with 18-wheeler

HOUSTON – Condolences from other agencies as well as Houston and Texas leaders are pouring in after a Harris County Sheriff’s deputy was killed in a crash involving an 18-wheeler on SH-249 Wednesday afternoon.

HCSO Sheriff Ed Gonzalez identified the deputy as 27-year-old Robert Adam Howard. Howard was a Cypress Woods High School graduate.

According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, Howard joined HCSO three years ago in August 2019 after lateraling from the  Harris County Precinct 5 Constables. He was an investigator in the Violent Gang Suppression Unit. Howard is survived by his wife, a 5-year-old son, and a 2-year-old daughter.

“Please keep him and his family in your prayers,” Gonzalez said in a tweet.
