KATY – The Katy Independent School District's new football stadium is named Legacy Stadium after a unanimous vote on Monday.
The Katy ISD Board of Trustees approved the name with a 7-0 vote.

The state-of-the-art, cost efficient, multipurpose school facility will open in the fall of 2017 and it will be part of the Academy Sports + Outdoors Complex.
The name reflects the school district's recently-adopted mission statement of "Be the Legacy."
The district also said the field would be named for Mike Johnston.
“It’s an honor to recognize all the former legacies which continue to inspire our students,” says Rebecca Fox, Katy ISD Board President. “Coach Johnston is a perfect example of an individual who continues to pour out his love and dedication for the future generation.”
