Driver runs red light causing fatal overnight accident

One person is dead after a driver ran a red light resulting in a crash Monday, Nov. 5, 2018. (KPRC)

A man is dead after a crash at an intersection in west Houston. 

According to police, the man, 21, was in a black vehicle heading southbound on Hwy 6 when one of the drivers ran a red light and the man was T-boned by a woman in a red SUV going westbound on Westheimer.

The SUV slammed into the driver's side door of the black car, causing serious injury to the man, police said. 

According to authorities, both the drivers were taken to the Southwest Memorial Hospital, where the man later died. The woman was checked out with only minor injuries. 

Officers with the Houston Police Department are working to determine which of the drivers ran the red light. 

Police said they are checking both drivers for any signs of impairment.
