Bill King kicks off mayoral campaign

HOUSTON – Bill King officially kicked off his second campaign for mayor of Houston.

In front of a room full of supporters Monday morning, King said he's confident the second time is a charm.

King lost in 2015 to then-candidate Sylvester Turner in a hard fought, close race.

King missed the office by only a two-percent margin, with Turner winning by more than 4,000 votes.

King said nothing has gotten better in the last four years.

"The truth is we have a city government that doesn't live up to the people that live in it. I'm telling you right now, we're going to change that once and for all," King said.

KPRC2's Sally Mamdooh sat down with King for a one-on-one interview to discuss the lessons learned from his first campaign. You can watch it in the player above or click here

Prominent Houston attorney Tony Buzbee is also running for mayor.
