BAYTOWN, Texas – The ex-husband of a 37-year-old missing woman was charged with murder Saturday after her body was recovered in a wooded area in west Chambers County, officials said.
Officials said Steven McDowell, 44, was arrested and charged in the death of 37-year-old Crystal McDowell.
Chambers County sheriff’s detectives and Texas Rangers found her body this afternoon in a wooded area not far from her home. Officials said she was last seen in Baytown on Aug. 25. She had been missing for two weeks.
She was wearing a pink and purple dress. Authorities said she is tan with long, blonde hair. She has a birthmark on the lower middle part of her back.
Steven McDowell is being held in the Chambers County Jail.
Chambers County authorities said the search has ended as they wait for a positive identification.
