Missing man found alive inside wrecked vehicle in wooded area near The Woodlands

HOUSTON – A man who was missing for several days has been found alive inside a wrecked vehicle in a wooded area in The Woodlands, Texas EquuSearch confirmed.

Jose Velazquez, 32, disappeared June 26 after leaving a bar in downtown Houston. He was headed home but never made, officials said.

"It was super hard not knowing where he was at,"  Velazquez said .

Texas EquuSearch began the search for Velazquez on Sunday morning and found Velazquez's vehicle around 3:25 p.m. Officials said he suffered serious injuries but was still alive.

"The car was upside down and from what I hear Jose was out of the car.  "So for 5 days, since Wednesdays till Sunday he was by himself," Velazquez.

Investigators said Velazquez driving north on Highway 242 at FM 1488 until he came to a dead end. He then drove about 100 yards into a wooded area and the vehicle flipped upside down, investigators said.

He was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands for his injuries.
Velaquez said he was in good spirits and back to being himself.

"He's alert, he's awake he's telling jokes," Velazquez said.

The crash is under investigation.
