HOUSTON – Houston police said a man’s body found Wednesday in White Oak Bayou may be connected to a burglary in the Heights.

The body was found about 10:10 a.m. near Main and Commerce streets, where White Oak and Buffalo bayous meet.

The Harris County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office said members of the agency’s environmental crimes unit found the body near the banks.

Police said the man may have been involved in a residential burglary last week.

Police said when they tried to pull over the burglary suspect, he bailed out of the vehicle and jumped into the bayou.

They have been searching for him every day since the incident, police said.

Heavy rains may have stirred up the bayou, leading to the discovery of the body, police said.

The identity of the victim and his cause of death were not immediately released.
