HOUSTON – A Worthing Senior High School student was arrested and charged after authorities said he brought a handgun and a loaded magazine to campus.
According to authorities, Shane Isiah Evans, a sophomore, brought a 9 mm handgun and a magazine with 16 rounds to campus.
Authorities said Evans admitted to possessing the weapon after he was pulled out of class by an assistant principal.
Evans, 17, was charged with carrying a prohibited weapon in a prohibited place, which is a felony.
“The concern I have is that this occurred at a school, and there’s been enough horrible things happen at school over the last few years,” the judge said.
Evans' bond was set at $5,000.
