1 dead, 2 detained after deadly north Harris County shooting, deputies say

HOUSTON – One man is dead and two others were detained following a shooting early Saturday.

Investigators were called to the scene of a shooting around 4:45 a.m. in the 900 block of Farm-To-Market 1960, south of Spring, the Harris County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies said the investigation had a lot of moving parts because there are two crime scenes involved.

According to officials, the first scene began at a nightclub around 4:15 a.m. where a fight broke out and later spilled out into the street. It was there that someone pulled out a gun and began firing into the crowd, deputies said.

The gunman fired multiple rounds, hitting one man who was taken to an area hospital and later pronounced dead, according to authorities.

The shooting happened just outside Top Notch Barber Shop, owned by local Ron Cesar.

“There’s two bullet holes in one of my windows,” Cesar said. “The bad news is, this affects us and we had nothing to do with anything.”

A wrecker driver in the area saw a vehicle flee the shooting scene and then called police, according to deputies. Authorities said the gunman fled the scene in a Toyota with another man in the car. Deputies were able to track down the vehicle, prompting a chase with law enforcement.

The vehicle, a red Toyota, later crashed at the second scene, located in the area of Eastex Freeway and Aldine Mail Route Road.

Authorities said were able to locate and arrest one person in the vehicle and detained another who was found hiding in a trash can at a nearby Burger King. Officials said that they recovered two handguns and are checking both scenes for any available surveillance video.
