HOUSTON – A 10-year-old boy who was found dead inside a dryer in east Houston late last week was electrocuted, according to the medical examiner's office.
Fernando Hernandez was playing hide-and-seek with other children Friday evening at the Falls of Birchbrook apartment complex in the 12300 block of Fleming Drive.
Police said he was found unresponsive inside the dryer in the laundry room at the complex.
Hernandez suffered no obvious signs of trauma, according to police.
Hernandez was taken to Bayshore Medical Center, where he later died, police said.
Hernandez attended Harris Elementary School, where students Monday were greeted by grief counselors to cope with his death.
The investigation is still ongoing.
Authorities initially said a domestic disturbance ended with the juvenile being stabbed to death. Further investigation revealed that the boy did not suffer any stab wounds, police said.
