HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – The Harris County Sheriff's Office said a deputy was involved in a shooting at 1:40 p.m. Monday.

Authorities said the deputy shot 46-year-old Mark Renee Flores in a parking lot in the 6600 block of Addicks Satsuma Road in northwest Harris County.

Sky 2 footage showed that Flores was killed in a parking lot near St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School, which is near Truitt Middle School and Horne Elementary School.

No students were injured or involved in the shooting.

No deputies were hurt, according to HCSO authorities.

Authorities said the altercation started when a repossession company was searching for a stolen vehicle.

Harris County authorities said the vehicle had been stolen Sunday night. They said Flores stabbed the owner and took the vehicle around 3:30 p.m. in the 9600 block of Maple Leaf Drive. Police said the dispute was over money.

The vehicle was found Monday, near the intersection of Beltway 8 and Tanner Road, authorities said. Flores, who appeared to be unconscious, was in the backseat. EMS was called.

When first responders arrived and opened the door, Flores jumped out with a knife, according to authorities. Flores then got in the front seat and drove away.

Authorities used GPS to track the vehicle, which was found in the parking lot of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School.

When a Harris County Sheriff's Office deputy and a Texas Department of Safety state trooper confronted Flores in the parking lot, Flores reportedly charged at them while holding a knife.

The deputy shot him, according to authorities.

Flores was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
