Amazon welcomes new associates at Houston fulfillment center

HOUSTON – More than 800 new Amazon associates were welcomed to Houston's new robotics fulfillment center.

The new associates entered with an orange carpet reception, toured the new facility and met new team members.

The first item received at the building was a Kids II Bright Starts Roll and Popp Train. An Xbox controller was the first item to be shipped. It was sent to a customer in Michigan.

Amazon is still hiring associates in Houston. The company plans on creating more than 1,500 full-time associate roles before the holiday shopping season.
