Fisherman's body found in water in Spring

SPRING – A death investigation only feet from their doorstep, now has one community in Spring on edge.

A fisherman's body was found by investigators in a body of water at Sandpiper Park just one day after a woman reported her fiancée had gone missing after a fishing trip.

"I feel sorry for the family, I really do. My prayers go out to them. But it's really scary living two blocks away," neighbor Scott Marti said.

Investigators said the fiancée and deputies searched for the man Monday night and found his truck, fishing gear and rubber raft in the area, but not him.

On Tuesday morning dive crews discovered a body nearby underwater.

Although no specifics were given as to how he died, authorities do suspect foul play and believe the man was killed.

"This is such a nice neighborhood, I wouldn't know why something like that would happen," neighbor Don Frazier said.

As deputies continue the investigation, neighbors said they're still concerned for their own safety.

"What happened, that's what I want to know. My kids live here and I work all day. I don't want anything to happen to them," neighbor Josh Ramirez said.
