2 arrested for Target thefts accused of being part of 'organized crime theft ring,' deputies say

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Constable Mark Herman believes two men who were arrested Wednesday are connected to other thefts in the Houston area, including one Wednesday morning in Atascocita.

David Gallegos and Domanik Jackson were apprehended after police said they exited the Target store at 6635 North Grand Parkway around 1:15 p.m.

"Right as the Precinct 4 deputies were arriving, these individuals had already fled the store with about $1,000 worth of stolen electronics," Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman said.

Deputies said the two men were first seen Wednesday morning stealing goods at a Target in Atascocita.

They managed to get away from that location but were caught on camera.

Loss prevention employees with Target took pictures of Gallegos and Jackson and sent them to all surrounding stores to be on the lookout.

When the men entered the Target off North Grand Parkway, employees knew who to look for and spotted them inside the store.

Deputies were immediately called to the scene.

When they arrived, they saw the two men loading up stolen goods -- mostly electronics -- inside a vehicle, according to authorities.

Both men tried to flee from the scene, but officers were able to catch Gallegos at the vehicle, and with the help of a police K-9, Jackson was caught in the parking lot. Jackson was bit in the leg and was taken to the hospital, deputies said.

The vehicle they were in was stolen from Conroe earlier in the day, Herman said. Gallegos was also in possession of illegal narcotics, police said.

Deputies are calling this an organized crime theft ring, saying the two men fit the description of similar thefts in the area.

"These individuals are certainly organized in what they're doing. We feel like they've been doing this for quite some time just by their method," Herman said. "The citizens of northwest Harris County can rest easier this evening with these suspected thieves off of our streets. We are much safer with both in the Harris County Jail.”

Authorities are not looking for any other people, and both men have been taken to the Harris County Jail.

Gallegos is charged with theft and possession of a controlled substance. Jackson is charged with theft and evading arrest.
