VIDEO: Cowboys rope stray cow in wild police chase

Dash-cam shows when cowboys managed to take down stray in front of Taco Bell

WEATHERFORD, Texas – It’s not every day that a cow shows up at Walmart, but last Thursday was one of those days in Weatherford, Texas.

The police in Weatherford posted video of the wild pursuit through the town’s busy thoroughfare after the cow somehow managed to escape its pen, streaking across roadways.

At one point in the dash-cam video, two cowboys on horseback show up, twirling ropes overhead. If the video were not in color with cars and fast food restaurants in the frame, it would all look like something out of a western movie.

Eventually, one of the cowboys managed to rope the animal and take it down to the ground in front of a Taco Bell.

Police said no one was hurt in the pursuit.

Police said on Facebook, “We were certainly reminded why Weatherford is the ‘Cutting Horse Capital of the World.’ A very special thank you also goes out to the two cowboys that assisted us in resolving this matter. We noted on our Twitter account @WPDTX, that people aren't the only ones who run from the police!”

Weatherford Police told KPRC that the cow is still alive.

The Facebook post now has more than 110,000 shares and more than 53,000 reactions.

Since it's Friday we thought we would share a funny video from a call for service we responded to yesterday. We are very grateful that no one was injured during this incident, and we were certainly reminded why Weatherford is the "Cutting Horse Capital of the World." A very special thank you also goes out to the two cowboys that assisted us in resolving this matter. We noted on our TWITTER account @WPDTX, that people aren't the only ones who run from the police!
