SHENANDOAH, Texas – Montgomery County deputies have arrested a man in connection with the death of a 19-year-old woman last month at the America's Best Value Inn & Suites near Interstate 45 in Shenandoah.

Authorities said Ryan Ray Moore called 911 on Nov. 25 to report that a woman had possibly committed suicide.

Officers found Hayley Far in a room with an apparent gunshot wound.

Police could not find a handgun in the room.

They later determined that the weapon had been taken from the premises by Brandan Douglas Rains, according to investigators.

Rains, 22, was arrested and charged with tampering with evidence.

Officers determined that Farr did not kill herself. Moore was charged with murder.

Moore, 22, was booked into the Montgomery County Jail.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office major crimes unit and Montgomery County Sheriff's crime scene investigators assisted the Shenandoah Police Department.
