HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A 10-year-old boy was killed and a 7-month-old was taken to the hospital in critical condition after a wreck in northwest Harris County.
Deputies said Juan Esparza was driving eastbound on West Mount Houston with his wife and four children inside the minivan around 8:40 p.m. Saturday.
Esparza was pulling into a Go Kart business on the north side of the road, slowed down and began to turn from the inside lane of travel as opposed to turning left from the provided two-way left turn lane.
Rijan Growe was driving a BMW SUV eastbound behind the minivan and struck the back left on the minivan.
The 10-year-old boy, Brian Esparza, was sitting in the third row on the left and the 7-month-old was being held by one of the other siblings.
Both were critically injured during the crash and taken to the hospital, where the 10-year-old died.
The 7-month-old remains in critical condition.
The crash is under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
