HOUSTON – Gloria Miller isn't shy about showing off the nearly dozen bug bites that line her arm.
She's hoping apartment management at the senior complex she's living at, the Colonial Park, will do something about it.
Miller, who says she's dealing with a bug problem in her apartment said, "They're nerve-wracking. I don't know where they came from. I just want to get rid of them."
Miller says her apartment is infested with bedbugs and lots of them.
Adrian Miller, her son, explained, "She was complaining about little bites and stuff. We checked her bed and it was completely covered with bedbugs and we checked the couch and it was covered in bed bugs."
Already forced to throw stuff away, an entire wall is lined with trash bags filled with other stuff Miller is afraid is also infested.
Some of her neighbors say they have the same problem.
Michelle Boening, whose mother is living at the complex, said, "It was so bad you can't sit and have a conversation without them crawling across you."
Both families say they've contacted apartment managers, who told them they'd have to take care of the problem themselves.
We reached out several times, but never heard back.
Boening explained, "They are living here because they can only afford so much."
Although some families living here have already paid out of pocket to exterminate the bedbugs, without the whole complex being treated, many feel it's a temporary fix and fear the bugs will be back.
"I can't deal with it very well. I can't kick and scream, but some day they have to go. That's all there is to it," said Miller.
