HOUSTON – From wild weather to floods and fires, homeowners expect their insurance companies to be there when the unexpected happens.
"It was a sickening feeling. I mean everything that you worked for as a family was destroyed," Joy Jacob, whose home burnt in a 2013 fire, said.

Jacob, her husband and two young daughters have not been able to return to their Orange home since the fire because they said their insurance carrier refuses to pay the amount of money needed to rebuild the home.
