Houston – Hip-hop fans are in for a once-in-a-generation experience as the Cash Money Records and No Limit Records Reunion Tour makes its first stop in Houston on Sept. 11.
Grammy Award-winning rapper, entrepreneur, and No Limit Records founder Master P stopped by Houston Life to talk about the historic tour, which reunites two of Southern hip-hop’s most influential labels for the first time on one stage.
The lineup features some of the biggest names in hip-hop, including Birdman, Juvenile, Mannie Fresh, B.G., Silkk the Shocker, Mac, Mia X, Fiend, Mr. Serv-On, Choppa Style, and special guest Boosie.
While fans can expect a night packed with classic hits, Master P says the tour represents something much bigger than nostalgia.
“This is about bringing awareness to mental health, which we call mental strength,” he said. “We want to turn up one more time, but this might be the last time you see all of us on stage together.”
Houston was a natural choice to launch the 17-city tour. Master P has long considered the city a second home, especially after Hurricane Katrina, when many New Orleans families, including members of his own family, relocated to Houston.
“I’m thankful and blessed,” he said, adding that his son also has ties to the city through the University of Houston.
For Master P, bringing Cash Money and No Limit together sends a message that extends far beyond music. It’s about coming together for the next generation and coexisting. He said. “This concert is about peace.”
Beyond his success in music, Master P has become one of entertainment’s most respected entrepreneurs, building businesses across multiple industries while advocating for ownership and financial independence. His advice for aspiring artists and entrepreneurs remains simple.
“Put God first. Nobody believed in me at one time, but I kept putting the work in,” he said. “Don’t be afraid to invest in yourself.”
And for longtime fans wondering which song still gets the biggest reaction, Master P didn’t hesitate.
“‘Make ‘Em Say Uhh!’ Every time,” he said with a smile.
