For more than three decades, Kickstart Kids has been making a lasting impact on students across Texas, with Houston serving as the organization’s headquarters. Founded by martial artist, actor, and philanthropist Chuck Norris, the nonprofit was created with a simple but powerful mission: help young people develop strong character, confidence, and resilience through martial arts.
Today, Kickstart Kids reaches thousands of middle and high school students in public schools throughout Texas, including many campuses in the greater Houston area. The program is recognized by the Texas Education Agency as a physical education program and is taught during the regular school day by certified black belt instructors.
Although students learn practical karate techniques, the heart of the program extends far beyond self-defense. Every lesson emphasizes eight core character values:
- Discipline
- Respect
- Honesty
- Responsibility
- Courage
- Kindness
- Loyalty
- Dedication
