HOUSTON – Sometimes the best teammates don’t wear cleats — they have four legs and a wagging tail. While the FIFA World Cup 2026™ has Houston buzzing, there’s another kind of match happening this Saturday that might just be the most rewarding one yet.
Best Friends Animal Society is hosting its Bring Love Home Adoption Event on Saturday, June 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Garage HTX, located at 1201 Oliver St., Suite 106, in Houston. More than 100 adoptable cats and dogs will be looking for their fur-ever homes — and the best part? Adoption fees are completely waived.
To make the day even sweeter, every adopted pet goes home with a special match-day adoption pack, which includes pet food and a toy to welcome their new teammate home.
Best Friends has partnered with eight shelter partners and rescue groups throughout the greater Houston area to bring this event to life — a reminder of just how many animals are still waiting for a home. You’ll meet the cutest animals from SPCA of Brazoria County, Sugar Land Animal Services, Galveston Island Humane Society and more.
Houston-area shelters and rescue groups are currently caring for thousands of homeless pets. Choosing to adopt rather than purchasing from a pet store or breeder is one of the most impactful ways to help.
If adoption isn’t in the cards right now, there are still ways to get involved. Volunteers and temporary foster families are always needed to help save more lives.
Best Friends Animal Society has been championing homeless pets since 1984, when a group of friends — along with roughly 200 rescued dogs and cats, a few bunnies and birds, and a couple of burros — settled in a remote canyon in Utah’s high desert. Those first steps would launch what became the nationwide no-kill movement for homeless pets.
