From struggle to strength
Meaghanne began her higher-education journey at Lone Star College while overcoming domestic violence, using coursework and campus supports as the foundation for rebuilding her life. That resilience set the stage for further study at the University of Houston and a career path shaped by both service and scholarship.
Service that serves the world
After earning her degree, Meaghanne commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force. She led major disaster-relief efforts and served with NATO, applying leadership skills learned in classrooms and on the job to real-world crises. Her military service amplified the impact of a Lone Star education, demonstrating how community-college roots can grow into global leadership.
Innovation and impact
Today, Meaghanne is pursuing a Ph.D. at Purdue University and leads defense innovation as the founder of Praxis Innovation Group. Her work spans research, technology development and building teams that address national security challenges - a career arc that began at a neighborhood college campus.
A stronger alumni network for Houston
Carolyn Donovan, associate vice chancellor for alumni relations & engagement at Lone Star College System, says the new Lone Star College System Alumni Association will bring graduates together to mentor students, celebrate successes and strengthen community ties across the Houston region.
