Houston – January is National Hot Tea Month, and for many people, it’s also a time to look for realistic ways to reset after the holidays without feeling restricted. For Houston based certified tea specialist Jasmine Oliver, that reset starts with a cup of tea.
Oliver is the founder of Tea, Please, a dessert-inspired loose-leaf tea brand built around comfort, balance, and everyday rituals. She recently gained national recognition after being featured in Essence magazine, highlighting her journey as an entrepreneur and tea expert.
Tea has always been part of Oliver’s life. She grew up in a family where tea was a daily staple, and her appreciation deepened when she discovered loose-leaf tea during her undergraduate years. That discovery eventually led her to become certified through the World Tea Academy and launch her own line of blends in 2019.
What sets her teas apart is the idea that wellness does not have to feel restrictive. Many of her blends are inspired by classic desserts like cinnamon rolls and Southern cakes, offering rich flavor without added sugar or excess caffeine. Oliver says these teas can be an easy alternative to dessert, wine, or an extra cup of coffee, especially during January resets or Dry January.
Oliver emphasizes tea as a ritual. Brewing loose leaf tea requires slowing down, letting the leaves steep, and taking a moment to pause, something she says is often missing in busy daily routines. That intentional process is just as important as what’s in the cup.
Family also plays a role in her brand’s story. Oliver credits her grandmother as a major influence, inspiring both her love of sweets and her desire to create flavorful alternatives that feel indulgent without guilt.
