Tough but fair: NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Llamas visits Houston Life

HOUSTONNBC Nightly News Anchor and Managing Editor Tom Llamas sits down with Houston Life co-host Derrick Shore to chat about his upbringing, how his immigrant parents shaped his life, and his approach to bringing news and information to viewers in a rapidly changing world.

A veteran of NBC News, Tom began his journalism career more than 25 years ago, and at one point he even interned for Lester Holt, Nightly’s previous anchor. Tom also anchors Top Story, an hour-long streaming news program that airs immediately after NBC Nightly News.

“My life has changed because I’m 100% busier than I was before,” said Llamas of his new schedule and added responsibilities.

“It’s about 90 minutes straight of hard news; I love it,” he added.

This is the extended version of Derrick and Tom’s conversation during his recent visit to Houston. As part of his “Reporting for America” campaign, Llamas anchored ‘Nightly News’ from several cities in the U.S., including right here in Houston.
