Practically Married: Houston sisters bring a heartfelt holiday film to life

Houston, Texas – The holiday rom-com ‘Practically Married’ is now streaming and it’s all Houston-made.

The film officially premiered on Black Friday, November 28, and viewers can now watch it on Amazon, Fandango, and Cable TV.

The story follows two sisters who are fed up with the modern dating world. Together, they decide they want to adopt children as co-parents. To test their theory, they take on babysitting duties for their young nephews during the holidays, not realizing the experience will change everything they thought they knew about love, family, and partnership.

Real-life sisters Sara and Lisa Alavi lead the film, Sara stars as Samantha and also serves as Executive Producer and Script Writer, while Lisa plays Lucy.

The project itself was inspired by genuine modern dating stories and the desire to create a relatable rom-com that puts family at the center. It also marks the acting debut of the Alavis’ real nephews, adding an authentic touch to the comedy and chaos on screen.

The cast includes several recognizable faces and rising stars with an overwhelming majority of the cast being from Houston, including writer/star Sara Alavi and director Juan Carlos Zermeño.

Practically Married is also a major win for Houston’s growing film scene.

The entire film was shot within just nine days, entirely in Houston.

Whether you’re in it for the holiday cheer, the sisterly bonding, or the painfully accurate dating jokes, Practically Married delivers a heartwarming reminder that sometimes love finds you in the least expected way.
