Cocktail historian Elizabeth Pearce spills the tea: Stories behind your favorite holiday cocktails
HOUSTON – Did you know that in the late 1800s eggnog was originally served to sick people as a medicinal elixir? It was rich in calories plus the added booze created a calming effect.
“It was like drinking Ensure but without the booze,” says Elizabeth Pearce , a cocktail expert and historian based in New Orleans.
